Starting today, Citadele is adding another innovative payment solution for its clients – Google Pay. Solution is available for all Citadele X cards and clients now can use Google Pay to make purchases in stores where contactless payments are accepted or pay in apps and websites wherever Google Pay is accepted.

Offering Google Pay is the next step in moving towards faster, more convenient and more secure mobile payments. Now all clients regardless of their preferable device – mobile phone, watch - can enjoy seamless and fast purchase experience in stores, online and also in mobile applications.

“Citadele was the first bank in Latvia to introduce contactless payments with Android devices back in 2018, and now adding Google Pay functionality will further improve user experience. Now all Citadele clients – both Android and iOS device users – have available globally well-known payment solutions.  Google Pay payment method for our clients has not been developed for the sake of having more, but rather with the aim of ensuring that each client has a way of using their money which is most convenient and accessible for them - either in shops or online,” explains Head of Cards and Payments at Citadele Andris Lazdiņš.

The new solution allows clients to pay up to 50 euros without unlocking their phone. Client just has to wake up the phone and tap it to contactless POS terminal.

Besides, Google Pay provides fast and secure check out for online shoppers by securely saving clients billing information to save time on filling in card data. Clients' data is encrypted and safely stored on secure servers.
