The Citadele Bank is pleased to announce that in future, its clients will be able to authorise themselves for use of the Internet banking services not only with a code card or code calculator, but also with an unprecedented Internet banking authorisation device in Latvia – Mobile Scan.
The new device is integrated into Citadele’s mobile application and is available to anyone with a smartphone or tablet device with the Android or Apple OS operating system. This is a safer and more convenient way of using the bank’s distance services without a code card or calculator.
Media representatives are invited to attend a news conference at noon on Tuesday, May 26, at Citadele headquarters at Republikas Square 2A. The conference will be held in the 3rd-floorconference room (enter from Eksporta Street), and the focus will be on MobileScan. Citadele board member Santa Purgaile will discuss the new device and the convenience that it offers to users of smartphones and tablets. Technology expert and blogger Kristaps Skutelis will share his thoughts about the device after testing it. All participants at the conference will be invited to test Mobile Scan and see how convenient it is. The device allows smartphone and tablet users to link to the Internet bank, confirm transactions and instructions, authorise themselves on the portal of partners, and make Internet purchases via the 3D Secure system. In other words, people can do all the same things as they once did with a code card or cold calculator.
The new device is being introduced as part of market trends, with people increasingly using mobile devices for everyday purposes. European Union rules say that by January 1, 2017, all banks in the EU must ensure authorisation devices that use at least two of three elements such as a password known only to the user or something that only belongs to the user – a mobile phone, for instance, or the individual’s fingerprints. Citadele’s Mobile Scan satisfies these requirements and is an innovative product in the area of new technologies.
