Possible Problems with MasterCard, Maestro Cards

SIA First Data Latvia, which provides payment services, has announced that there have been problems in the operations of the MasterCard network since 3:30 this afternoon.

Retail locations in Latvia which use Swedbank POS terminals, as well as, retail locations abroad may have problems with payments involving MasterCard and Maestro cards. First Data Latvia says that the problem is being addressed, but in the meantime, we would ask our clients to use their American Express and/or VISA cards instead.

Citadele Bank POS terminals and ATMs are fully operational, though given that there have been problems with some cards that are issued by Swedbank, the use of such cards may not be possible in relation to Citadele POS terminals and ATMs, as well.
